Penn State and Washington Capture Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Accolades

Nittany Lions’ Henry and Dwyer and Huskies’ Green earn weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of December 4-11, 2024.  

Track Athlete of the Week  

Nathan Green, Washington 

Senior – Distance – Boise, Idaho – Major: Real Estate

  • Ran the fastest 3,000-meters time in Big Ten history and broke the UW school record (7:40.09) at the Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston. 

  • His 3000-meter time ranks 13th in NCAA history indoors 

  • Green currently owns the Washington school records at 800-meters, 1,000-meters, 1,500-meters, and 3,000-meters. 

  • Earns his and Washington’s first ever Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award 

 

Field Athlete of the Week 

Ryan Henry, Penn State 

Junior – Throws – Berlin Center, Ohio – Major: Nutritional Physiology and Biochemistry

  • Posted the No. 3 shot put mark in Division I through the opening weekend of competition 

  • In his first meet as a Nittany Lion, Henry put up a 62-0.5 (18.91m) throw to win the Bison Opener 

  • The junior’s lifetime-best mark is just two centimeters off Penn State’s top five indoor list. 

  • Last Penn State Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Luke Knipe (Feb. 23, 2022) 

 

Freshman of the Week 

Ajani Dwyer, Penn State 

Freshman – Sprints – Sewell, N.J. – Major: Accounting

  • Recorded a 6.55 in the 60-meter dash finals at the Bison Opener on Saturday afternoon 

  • His time currently leads the NCAA after opening weekend and is No. 2 on Penn State’s list behind Olympian Cheickna Traore 

  • His 60-meter dash time is the third-fastest U.S. U20 60-meter time in history 

  • Earns his and Penn State’s first ever Indoor Track Freshman of the Week award 

 

2024-25 Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week 

Dec. 11 

Track: Nathan Green, WASH

Field: Ryan Henry, PSU

Freshman:  Ajani Dwyer, PSU
