Eight Big Ten Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Student-Athletes Named to Academic All-America Teams

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Eight student-athletes from five Big Ten Conference schools earned a place on the 2022-23 Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America Teams, according to Thursday’s announcement by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).  Minnesota led the way with three Academic All-Americans, followed by Wisconsin with two, and Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State all with one honoree each.Minnesota graduate students Isaiah Schafer and Matthew Wilkinson earned first-team All-America honors from CSC while their teammate, graduate student Kaleb Siekmeier earned third-team All-America. This is Schafer’s and Wilkinson’s first honors, while Siekmeier earned second-team All-America in 2021-22 and third-team recognition in 2020-21.Wisconsin junior Abdullahi Hassan claimed second-team All-America plaudits and his teammate, graduate student Sam Coil, earned third-team All-America accolades.Michigan graduate student Tom Brady and Nebraska sophomore Till Steinforth earned first-team All-America status and Penn State sophomore Collin Burkhart claimed third-team All-America recognition, the first honors for all three student-athletes.
