Iowa, USC and Washington Garner Weekly Men’s Indoor Track and Field Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb 12-19, 2025.  

Track Athletes of the Week  
Johnny Brackins Jr., USC 
Senior – Hurdles – Kansas City, MO – Major: Psychology 

• Won the 60m hurdles at the Tiger Paw Invitational with a school-record time of 7.48
• His 60m hurdles time is tied for the sixth-fastest collegiate performer all-time and is tied for the NCAA lead in 2025
• In the semifinals, Brackins Jr. also ran a 7.52 in the semifinals which is third-fastest NCAA hurdles time this season
• Last USC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award: Johnny Blockburger (Feb. 12, 2025) 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Ryan Johnson, Iowa 
Sophomore – Throws – Springboro, Ohio – Major: Mechanical Engineering 

• Recorded a 24.59m weight throw, the 4^th-farthest in NCAA history
• The sophomore broke Iowa’s program record for the third time this season
• It also ranks third in the NCAA in weight throw and leads the Big Ten by over two meters
• Last Iowa Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Abraham Vogelsang (Feb. 5, 2025) 

Freshman of the Week 
Martin Barco, Washington 
Freshman – Mid-distance – Martinsville, IN – Major: Comparative History of Ideas 

• Ran a 1:47.30 800-meters to break the Washington freshman record, which has stood since 1973
• His time also ranks No. 6 overall in UW history and No. 28 in the NCAA this season
• Among true freshman, his time ranks second in the NCAA
• Last Washington Indoor Freshman of the Week Award: Bodi Ligons (Jan. 22, 2025)
