Indiana, Purdue and Minnesota Garner Men’s Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Hoosiers’ McDonald, Boilermakers’ Rzepka and Gophers’ Johnson earn weekly accolades

Swimmer of the Week  
Owen McDonald, Indiana 
Jr. – Alpharetta, Ga. – Rivers Academy 

  • Won four individual events and one relay as Indiana won the SMU Classic 

  • Set NCAA B cuts in wins of 500 free (4:18.10), 100 back (45.35), 200 IM (1:42.09) and 400 IM (3:41.69) 

  • Also set NCAA B cut as relay leadoff of 800 freestyle relay win in 1:35.32 

  • 200 IM and 400 IM times are best in NCAA DI so far this season 

  • 100 back time ranks No. 3 nationally, 500 free time ranks No. 4 

  • Last Indiana Swimmer of the Week: Brendan Burns (Feb. 7, 2023) 

 

Diver of the Week 
Jordan Rzepka, Purdue 
Sr. - Solon, Ohio – New Albany – Major: Selling & Sales Management 

  • At the eight-team Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate, Rzepka placed first on the 1-meter (393.60) as Purdue had the top three finishers and five of the top six 

  • Won the 3-meter (431.25) as Purdue had five of the top six finishers  

  • Rzepka swept the diving events at the Indiana Intercollegiate for the second time in his career 

  • Last Purdue Diver of the Week: Jordan Rzepka (Jan. 31, 2024) 

 

   
Freshman of the Week  
Jacob Johnson, Minnesota  
Springfield, Pa. – Springfield High School – Major: Undeclared 

  • Set the 200 fly school record with a time of 1:42.41 on Oct. 11 vs. Army. The previous record was set by Kaiser Neverman at 1:42.47 

  • Also won the 100 fly with a time of 46.58 

  • Earns his second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor 

  • Last Minnesota Freshman of the Week: Jacob Johnson (Oct. 9, 2024)
