Penn State and Minnesota Claim Weekly Men’s Swimming & Diving Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill.  – The Big Ten Conference has announced this week’s Men’s Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards for the week of Nov. 29 – Dec. 5. 

Swimmer of the Week
Victor Baganha, Penn State
Jr. – Belo Horizonte, Brazil – Major: Risk Management

·     Won the 50 Free (19.26), 100 Fly (45.37), and 100 Free (42.75)

·      Achieved NCAA B Cut times in all three events

·  His 45.37 in the 100 Fly was the 19th fastest in the NCAA and his 19.26 in the 50 Free was 34th nationally.

·      Last Penn State Swimmer of the Week: Eduardo Cisternas (Jan. 25, 2023)

Diver of the Week
YuTong Wang, Minnesota
Fr. – Beijing, China – Beijing Diving Club – Major: Sports Management

·        Won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives at the 2023 Minnesota Invite, earning Zone qualifying marks in both the preliminary and finals of each event

·        NCAA Zone qualifying scores of 381.55 (1-meter) and 397.60 (3-meter)

·        Earns third Diver of the Week award 

·        Last Minnesota Diver of the Week: YuTong Wang (Nov. 8, 2023) 

Freshman of the Week
Davide Harabagiu, Minnesota
Rome, Italy – Canottieri Tevere Remo

·      Won the 50 Free in a personal best time of 19.76, achieving an NCAA B Cut time

·  Set a personal best and school record with an NCAA B Cut time of 45.94 in the 100 Fly, the eighth fastest time in the Big Ten

·      Earns his third Freshman of the Year honor
