Boilermakers’ Samuels, Golden Gophers’ Bennett and Johnson earn weekly accolades

Samuels posted four individual NCAA provisional qualifying times (B Cuts) while being one of three men's swimmers to win three individual events at USA Swimming's Toyota U.S. Open Championships
Finished first in the 50 free (19.33, NCAA B Cut), 100 free (42.27, NCAA B Cut) and 100 fly (45.27, NCAA B Cut)
Samuels 50 free time was the second fastest time in team history
Finished with an NCAA B Cut time and Purdue record in the 200 freestyle with a 1:34.06

Freshman of the Week
Jacob Johnson, Minnesota
Springfield, Pa. – Springfield High School
Johnson broke his own 200 fly school record during prelims of the Minnesota Invite with a 1:41.56. Jacob then placed first in the finals with a time of 1:42.61
Johnson placed first in the 100 fly with a NCAA B Cut time and personal best 45.44
Set a personal best in the 50 free with a 19.82
Finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:25.43) and 400 medley relay (3:08.03)
