Heavyweights Collide: No. 2 Maryland vs. No. 5 Georgetown Headlines Labor Day Weekend
Top contender takes on a national powerhouse, Big Ten's top scorers strike again, and more
The men’s soccer slate continues to ramp up this weekend, with plenty of notable action across the conference.
Prime-Time Battle: Undefeated Terrapins, Hoyas Meet in College Park
No. 2 Maryland, the highest-ranked team in the Big Ten, welcomes No. 5 Georgetown to College Park looking for its second top-10 win of the season. Undefeated so far, the Terps aim to close out their early non-conference slate with another resume-building victory before heading into Big Ten play.
The Terrapins have allowed just three goals behind reigning Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year Laurin Mack. But they now face a Hoyas offense led by unanimous All-Big East First Team selection Mitchell Baker, a forward who has scored three times already this season. On the other side, Said El Eyssami (two goals) and the Maryland offense will look to break a Georgetown defense that has given up just two goals in four games.
Across the conference, there were notable moments this week:
- Ohio State’s Isaiah Chisolm scored a hat trick in the Buckeyes’ 5-0 win over Northern Kentucky, with his third coming on this penalty kick. The senior is up to seven goals on the season, tied for the Big Ten lead.
- Tied with Chisholm is Washington’s Zach Ramsey, who found the net once again in Washington’s 2-2 draw with Cal State Fullerton.
- Rutgers continues its homestand on Monday night against No. 21 UC Santa Barbara.
There are nine total teams in action this weekend. Check out the complete schedule for men’s soccer .
