Terps Claim East Coast Rivalry Clash, Conference Play Next
SportsCenter Top 10 goal pushes Terps past Georgetown, Big Ten battles next
In front of Ludwig Field’s largest crowd since 2017, No. 2 Maryland claimed its highest-ranked win in eight years, defeating No. 5 Georgetown 3-2. The Hoyas struck first in the 16th minute of the DMV rivalry clash, but Albi Ndrenika curled in a nasty shot from beyond the 18 just three minutes later to knot it at one. The Terps’ top goal scorers took over from there, with freshman Rodrigo Neri netting the go-ahead goal (27’) before Said El Eyssami buried the dagger (81’). Read Maryland’s story .
The Terps now enter Big Ten play 5-0 for the first time since 2011 with two top-10 wins under their belt. With Ohio State (No. 4), Indiana (No. 6), and Michigan State (No. 8) ranked among the best in the country, Maryland will need a few more to claim a Big Ten title. But if Monday night is any indicator, the Terps have the tools they need to contend both in the conference and on the national stage.
Conference play kicks off this weekend, and we’ll have all the previews for you on Friday. Check out the upcoming schedule .
