Penn State Wins Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament Championship

The top-seeded Penn State men’s soccer team earned the Big Ten Tournament Championship Sunday, defeating No. 3 seed Indiana 3-0 at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pa. With today’s win, Penn State earns the Big Ten’s automatic qualifier into the 2021 NCAA Championship.
The Nittany Lions secured the conference double by adding their first Big Ten Tournament title since 2005 to their regular-season championship. Penn State became the first Big Ten program to win all of its conference tournament games by at least two goals since Indiana in 1991.
After scoring the game-winning goal and adding an assist on the team’s third goal on Sunday, Penn State’s Seth Kuhn was named Offensive Player of the Tournament. Nittany Lion goalkeeper Kris Shakes was voted Defensive Player of the Tournament after he recorded shutouts in all three games, including a six-save effort against the Hoosiers.
The announcement of the 48-team field for the 2021 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship will be made at 1 p.m. ET Monday on NCAA.com.
