Indiana Clinches Share of 2024 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Title

ROSEMONT, Ill. – With today’s 6-1 victory over Northwestern, the Indiana Hoosiers have clinched at least a share of the 2024 Big Ten Men’s Soccer championship.  The No. 16 Hoosiers closed their conference slate with a 7-1-2 record and improved to 9-3-5 overall.

Graduate student Justin Weiss and senior Tommy Mihalic scored two goals each, as Indiana claimed its second consecutive regular season title and 19th overall. Fellow senior Samuel Sarver added a goal and joined Mihalic as two of five Hoosiers to record an assist in the win.

Sarver opened the scoring in the 17th minute, before Mihalic completed his brace with two first half goals, including a 38th minute penalty kick. Weiss marked the scoring column twice in the second half, sandwiching a goal by Northwestern’s Brandon Clagette.

The Hoosiers will close their regular season on Friday, as they welcome Trine to Bill Armstrong Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET.

The 2024 Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament will begin on Thursday, Nov. 7. The tournament’s three opening round matches and semifinals, slated for Sunday, Nov. 10, will be played at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. The championship match will take place on Sunday, Nov. 17 on the home field of the highest remaining seed.

The top seven teams in the league’s final standings will qualify for the tournament, with the top seed earning a bye into the semifinal round.
