COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 1 seed Ohio State claimed its fourth Big Ten Men’s Soccer Tournament title today, and first since 2009, as the Buckeyes topped No. 7 seed Michigan 1-0 in the championship match at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. With the victory, Ohio State earns the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

This also marks the fourth Big Ten double for the Buckeyes, who claimed a share of the 2024 regular season championship. Ohio State also won both the regular season and tournament titles in 2000, 2007, and 2009.

Senior midfielder Parker Grinstead scored the game’s lone goal, his third of the tournament, to earn Most Outstanding Player honors.

After recording a pair of markers in Ohio State’s semifinal win, Grinstead notched the scoresheet in the 73rd minute with an unassisted goal.

Despite the final tally including just one goal on the day, both teams created scoring chances, as they combined for 24 shots, including 12 on target. Junior Luciano Pechota accounted for three of Ohio State’s 12 shots, one more than senior Michael Adedokun and redshirt senior Thomas Gilej, while Michigan graduate student Bryce Blevins led all players with seven shots.

Buckeyes’ goaltender Max Trejo notched four saves, improving to 8-0-1 with his fifth clean sheet of the season. Michigan’s sophomore netminder Isaiah Goldson recorded six saves in the loss.

The announcement of the 48-team field for the 2024 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship will be made at 1 p.m. ET Monday on NCAA.com.
