Illinois and Michigan State Earn Weekly Tennis Awards
Baris and Jilly earn first honors of the season

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Michigan State senior Ozan Baris has been named Player of the Week and Adam Jilly of Illinois tabbed Freshman of the Week by the Big Ten Conference for matches played Sept. 11-14, the opening week of the 2025-26 men’s tennis season.

Okemos, Mich. – Okemos HS
- Began the season with a four-match win streak at the Battle in the Bay Classic, held Sept. 11-14, in San Francisco.
- Advanced to the tournament final for the second time in three years
- Posted straight-set wins over No. 89 Sasha Rozin of Arizona (6-0, 6-1) and No. 96 Dominique Rolland of UC Santa Barbara (7-6, 6-4)
- Reached the doubles semifinals, teaming with Tayma Alazmeh for a pair of wins
- Enters his senior campaign ranked No. 7 nationally in singles
Freshman of the Week
Adam Jilly, Illinois
Budapest, Hungary – Budai Nagy Antal HS
- Made his collegiate debut with a trip to the west coast, participating in the Battle in the Bay Classic
- Defeated No. 118 Jelani Sarr of Arizona State, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6), in a super tiebreaker
- Joined forces with Kenta Miyoshi to post his first collegiate doubles win, a 6-3 decision over Bernardo Munk Mesa and Lenn Luemkenmann of California
- Ranked 10th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Newcomer rankings
- Becomes the first Illini player to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week
