Michigan State Awarded Weekly Tennis Honor

Spartans’ Saye captures two titles in Madison

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly award winner for matches played October 30-Nov. 2.

Player of the Week
David Saye, Michigan State
Sr. — Charlotte, N.C. — Smith Stearns Tennis Academy

  • Won the singles and doubles titles at the Big Ten Individual Championships, held Oct. 30-Nov. 2, in Madison, Wis.
  • Finished the tournament with a combined 9-0 record
  • Went 5-0 in singles and rallied from a set down to defeat No. 61 Michael Minasyan of Wisconsin in the final, 0-6, 6-3 (10-5)
  • Posted a 4-0 record with doubles partner Mitchell Sheldon, producing a 6-1 win in the championship match
  • The two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection earns his first Big Ten Player of the Week Award
