Ohio State and Penn State Receive Men’s Tennis Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly awards for matches played February 13-17, 2026.

Player of the Week
Jack Anthrop, Ohio State
Sr. – Orlando, Fla.

• Posted a 4-0 singles record as No. 2 Ohio State earned a runner-up finish at the 2026 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, held Feb. 13-17, in Dallas, Texas.
• Clinched match point in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles in Ohio State’s 4-3 opening win against host SMU
• Produced the Buckeyes’ first point in a come-from-behind win over No. 4 Stanford, defeating 80^th-ranked Alex Change in straight sets at No. 2 singles
• Defeated a pair of players with ITF world numbers below 6.0, claiming Ohio State’s first singles points against No. 1 Virginia (4-3 win) and No. 7 Texas (4-2 loss)
• Ranked 24th nationally by the ITA, improved his season singles record to 19-5
• Secures his second Player of the Week Award of the season

Freshman of the Week
Kyle Chesman, Penn State
Fr. – Dallas, Pa.

• Compiled a 4-0 overall record to help Penn State sweep a home doubleheader against Georgetown and Mercyhurst on Saturday
• The wins improved Penn State’s season dual record to 9-1
• Won all four matches in straight sets, winning 64.3 percent (36-20) of his games played
• Notched singles wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 flights and teamed with Marcus Shoeman for a pair of victories at No. 3 doubles
• Becomes the first Nittany Lion to receive a Big Ten weekly honor this season
• Last Penn State player named Freshman of the Week: Reiya Hattori (February 5, 2025)
