Illinois, Michigan State Receive Weekly Tennis Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly awards for matches played March 21-23.

Player of the Week
Kenta Miyoshi, Illinois
Jr. – Kawasaki, Japan — Mita International School

• Compiled a 3-0 overall record for No. 23 Illinois last week
• Defeated 30th-ranked Peter Makk, 7-5, 6-3 on center court, clinching match point for Illinois in a 4-2 win over No. 26 USC Sunday in Urbana, Ill.
• Was leading 29th-ranked Rudy Quan of UCLA, 7-6, 5-1 in No. 1 singles before the match went unfinished
• Teamed with Tyler Bowers to win 12 of 18 games in a sweep of No. 1 doubles against UCLA and USC
• Ranked 16th by the ITA in singles, earns his third Big Ten Player Award of the season

Freshman of the Week
Vuk Radjenovic, Michigan State (pronounced: Vook Rad-jen-oh-vick)
Fr. – Belgrade, Serbia — Milutin Milankovic

• Won a pair of singles matches to help No. 29 Michigan State to a road sweep of No. 57 Indiana and No. 47 Purdue
• Defeated Indiana’s Braeden Gelletich in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) at No. 4 singles to secure match point for the Spartans
• Recorded a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over Maj Premzl of Purdue at No. 5 singles
• Has won six of his last seven singles matches
• Becomes the sixth different Spartan honored with a Big Ten weekly award this season
