Michigan State Receives Tennis Weekly Award

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Ozan Baris of Michigan State has been named the Big Ten Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played March 29-31.

Clinched back-to-back match points for Michigan State in road wins over No. 19 Illinois on March 30 and No. 60 Northwestern on March 31
Defeated No. 31-ranked Karlis Ozolins of Illinois, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles as the 18th-ranked Spartans overcame a 3-0 deficit to snap a 30-match losing streak to Illinois
Won a super tiebreaker 10-8 to complete a 7-6, 5-7 victory over Northwestern’s Presley Thieneman at No. 1 singles in MSU’s 5-2 win on Sunday
Improved to 12-3 in singles and 22-8 overall (singles/doubles combined) on the season
Ranked 10th in singles and fifth in doubles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)
The 2023 ITA National Fall Doubles Champion earns his second career Player of the Week honor, having previously been recognized on April 19, 2023
