Four Big Ten Teams Qualify for NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship

ROSEMONT, Ill. — The Big Ten Conference has qualified four teams for the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship. Ohio State received the conference’s automatic berth while Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois earned at-large berths.

The NCAA field includes 64 teams playing at 16 different sites for the first and second rounds, May 3-4. Sixteen teams advance to the Super Regionals on May 10-11 with eight teams moving on to the National Championship, May 16-19, at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.

Ohio State (30-1), the No. 1 seed overall, will host Cleveland State (21-6) at 1 p.m. ET on Friday (May 3) at the Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus, Ohio. The Big Ten regular season and tournament champions, Ohio State is making its 24th NCAA appearance having reached the NCAA Championship match last season.

Michigan (16-12) will encounter Binghamton (16-9) at 10 a.m. ET on Friday at the Milstein Family Tennis Center in New York, N.Y. The Wolverines have qualified for the NCAAs for the eighth-straight season and the 33rd time overall.

Michigan State (22-6) will take on undefeated Denver (23-0) at 11 a.m. ET on Friday at the Beren Tennis Center in Cambridge, Mass. Michigan State is making its first NCAA appearance since 2013 and its second trip overall to the NCAAs.

Illinois (16-9) meets Toledo (14-10) at 1 p.m. ET on Friday at the Boone Tennis Center in Lexington, Ky. The Illini are making their 27th NCAA tournament, appearing for the second year in a row. Illinois won the national title in 2003.
