Illinois and USC Capture Men’s Tennis Weekly Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly awards for matches played Feb. 14-16.

Player of the Week
Kenta Miyoshi, Illinois
Jr. – Kawasaki, Japan — Mita International School

• Led Illinois to 4-3 wins over Clemson and Notre Dame in a Saturday doubleheader (Feb. 15) at the Atkins Tennis Center
• Playing No. 1 singles, rallied from a set down to defeat 51st-ranked Noa Vukadin of Clemson, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), to clinch match point against the undefeated Tigers
• Later in the day on center court, downed 33rd-ranked Sebastian Dominko of Notre Dame in straight sets, improving to 12-6 on the year against ranked opponents
• The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar captures his second career Big Ten weekly honor
• Last Illinois Player of the Week recipient: Kenta Miyoshi on Sept. 18, 2024

Freshman of the Week
Nathan Trouvé, USC
Fr. – Grenoble, France — Rafa Nadal International School

• Helped USC to a 4-3 win over No. 25 Pepperdine on the Waves’ home court Feb. 16
• Beat No. 32 Maxi Homberg, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 2 singles for his first win against a ranked opponent
• The former top-20 ITF ranked junior has won four of six singles matches to begin his collegiate career
• Becomes first USC player to win the Big Ten Freshman of the Week Award
• Last Trojan to win a Big Ten weekly award: Peter Makk (Player) on Feb. 5, 2025
