Michigan State and Ohio State Garner Weekly Tennis Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its men’s tennis weekly awards for matches played April 4-6.

Player of the Week
Alexander Bernard, Ohio State
Jr. – Bonita Springs, Fla.

• Compiled a 3-0 record (1-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) in helping No. 3 Ohio State post a pair of 4-0 wins over No. 27 UCLA and No. 30 USC in Columbus
• The results extended Ohio State’s home winning streak to 72 matches and its conference win streak to 43 matches
• Recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Nathan Trouve of USC at No. 2 singles
• Partnered with Alex Fuchs to clinch the doubles point against the Bruins and Trojans
• The 2023 ITA Singles All-American earns his first Big Ten Player of the Week accolade
• Last Buckeye named Big Ten Player of the Week: Aidan Kim (Feb. 12, 2025)

Freshman of the Week
Danial Rakhmatullayev, Michigan State
Fr. – Aktau, Kazakhstan

• Registered three wins on the week as No. 31 Michigan State dropped just a point in wins over No. 66 Northwestern (6-1 result) and No. 24 Illinois (4-0 result)
• Won 25 of 35 games (.714) in posting a 1-0 record at No. 6 singles and a 2-0 mark at No. 3 doubles with teammate Max Sheldon
• Won the clinching doubles match versus Northwestern to give MSU a 1-0 lead
• Collects his second Big Ten certificate — was named Player of the Week on October 30, 2024
• Improved to 30-18 overall (.625) on the season
• Last Spartan tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week: Vuk Radjenovic (March 26, 2025)
