Purdue, Penn State Win Weekly Men’s Cross Country Honors
Boilermakers’ Buckeridge and Nittany Lions’ Schoedel claim weekly awards
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Cross Country weekly award winners for the week of Oct. 1-Oct. 8, 2025.
Athlete of the Week
Douglas Buckeridge, Purdue
Senior – Melbourne, Australia – Northcote Highschool – Major: Mathematics/Statistics
- Took 13th place in a competitive 8k field at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite
- His time of 23:10.3 was a personal best and the second-fastest time among Big Ten runners this season
- Last Purdue Athlete of the Week Award: Nathan Walker (Sept. 20, 2023)
Freshman of the Week
Jaxon Schoedel, Penn State
Freshman – Enon Valley, Penn. – Mohawk Area High School –Major: Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- In his first collegiate race, finished 41st overall at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run
- His time of 23:57.8 was third best among the Nittany Lions and helped them to a 6th place finish overall
- Last Penn State Freshman of the Week Award: Nick Sloff (Oct. 23, 2024)
