Michigan, Purdue Claim Weekly Men’s Cross Country Honors

Wolverines’ Clark and Boilermakers’ Assa earn weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Cross Country weekly award winners for the week of Aug. 27-Sept. 3, 2025.  

Athlete of the Week 
Nolan Clark, Michigan
RS-Sophomore – Lexington, Mass. – Lexington High School– Major: Undeclared

  • Finished the Michigan Open with a time of 14:59.4 
  • Shaved 30 seconds off his previous best 
  • Last Michigan Athlete of the Week: Henry Johnson (Oct. 30, 2024) 


Freshman of the Week
Nate Assa, Purdue
Junior – Jumps – St. Catherine, Jamaica – Major: Criminology and Criminal Justice

  • Finished with a time of 18:30.5 in the Winrow Valparaiso Open 
  • Was the No. 19 freshman in the country in the 6k in his collegiate debut 
  • This marks the program's first Freshman of the Week award
