SAVOY, Ill. – The Wisconsin men’s cross country team claimed its seventh-straight team title after winning the 2024 Big Ten Cross Country Championships, hosted by the University of Illinois at the Orange and Blue Golf Course.
The Badgers totaled 46 points, which included five runners placing in the top 20. Washington and Oregon both tallied 58 points to round out the podium finishers.
Wisconsin’s Bob Liking took home the individual title, finishing the 8K course in a time of 22:47.3. His time marked a new championships record, besting Matt McClintock’s previous record time of 23:12.1. Liking clinched his fourth consecutive individual crown and joined an elite group as just the fourth runner and only Badger in Big Ten history to claim four individual championships.
Wisconsin stands alone as the most decorated program in Big Ten history, having earned 55 team championships and 38 individual titles. With the addition of this year’s win, head coach Mick Byrne has led his program to 14 championships.
The top 10 finishers at the Big Ten Championships garnered first team All-Big Ten honors, while competitors in places 11-20 received second team laurels. The five highest-finishing freshmen earned a spot on the all-freshman team.
