Michigan, Oregon, Penn State and Iowa Earn Cross Country Weekly Honors

Wolverines’ Jarema, Ducks’ Birnbaum, Nittany Lions’ Caron and Hawkeyes’ Torres were recognized

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Michigan junior Caleb Jarema and Oregon redshirt-freshman Simeon Birnbaum secured Big Ten Weekly Honors for men’s cross country, while Penn State senior Florence Caron and Iowa freshman Elena Torres claimed recognition for women’s cross country.

Finished 20th as the lead runner for Michigan
Paced the Wolverines to a sixth-place finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational
Ran a personal best of 23:54.2 over the 8K course

Paced Oregon to a third-place team finish at the Cowboy Jamboree
Navigated the 8K course in a time of 24:10.9 to place 14th

Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Sr. – La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada – Laval – Major: Linguistics

Finished second overall out of 190 runners at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational
Clocked in at 20:03.2, a season-best mark in a 6K race
Helped No. 29 Penn State take down six ranked opponents on its way to a 10th-place finish in one of the toughest regular season fields in collegiate cross country
