Ohio State, Penn State Win Weekly Men’s Cross Country Awards

Buckeyes’ Agnew and Nittany Lions' Opperman take home weekly honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Cross Country weekly award winners for the week of Sept. 3-10, 2025.  

Athlete of the Week 
Kevin Agnew, Ohio State
Graduate – Bellbrook, Ohio – Archbishop Carroll High School –  Major: Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Finished second overall in the Mike Baumer XC Classic 
  • His 5K career-best of 14:33.3 was just a tenth of a second behind the race winner from No. 15-ranked Butler 
  • His efforts helped OSU finish second overall behind Butler  
  • Last Ohio State of the Week: Jordan Redd (Sept. 3, 2013) 

 
Freshman of the Week
Isaac Oppermann, Penn State
Freshman – Port Matilda, Pa. – State College High School – Major: Undecided

  • Impressed in his collegiate debut, finishing third in the men’s 6k race 
  • His time of 17:51.5 helped the Nittany Lions to a sweep of the annual Dolan Duals 
  • Last Penn State Freshman of the Week: Nick Sloff (Oct. 23, 2024)
