ROSEMONT, Ill. – Iowa senior Caitlin Clark scored 35 points against No. 2 Ohio State on Sunday afternoon to pass Pete Maravich and become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer in college basketball history with 3,685 career points.

Clark passed Maravich’s record on a free throw with 0.3 seconds left in the second quarter. Maravich played three seasons at LSU from 1967-1970 and set the previous mark of 3,667 career points in just 83 games.

During the 2023-24 season, the West Des Moines, Iowa native has broken multiple national records. She surpassed Lynette Woodard on Feb. 28 with 33 points against Minnesota to become the all-time leading scorer in major women’s college basketball. Clark also broke the NCAA’s record for three-pointers made in a single season (162) and became the first Big Ten women’s basketball player to record over 500 three-pointers in a career (509).

Prior to that, she overtook Kelsey Plum as the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader in NCAA women’s college basketball with a career-high 49 points versus Michigan. Her 49 points set an Iowa single-game record and tied for fifth in the Big Ten Conference’s record book.

Clark has also etched her name in various categories in the Big Ten Conference record book. She handed out 10 assists versus Minnesota on Dec. 30 to become the Big Ten’s and Iowa’s all-time assist leader and currently has 1,058 for her career, just the sixth player in NCAA women’s basketball history to reach 1,000 assists. Clark poured in 35 points against Northwestern on Jan. 31 to pass Ohio State’s Kelsey Mitchell for the top spot as the Big Ten’s all-time leading scorer. On Feb. 8, she moved ahead of Ohio State’s Jantel Lavender to claim the Big Ten’s record for career field goals made.

Clark is the first Division I player to record 3,600+ points, 1,000+ assists and 850+ rebounds in a career and the all-time leading scorer in the state of Iowa in Division I college basketball history. When she had her 13th career triple-double, she joined Sabrina Ionescu as the only players in college women’s basketball history to record a triple-double in four consecutive seasons. Clark is the all-time leader in 30+ point performances in men’s and women’s college basketball over the last 25 seasons.
