Indiana Takes Home Weekly Women’s Cross Country Awards

Hoosiers’ Zang sweeps merits for second time this season

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Cross Country weekly awards winner for competitions that occurred between Sept. 30-Oct. 7.   

Athlete & Freshman of the Week 
Katy Zang, Indiana 
Freshman – Orient, Ohio – Teays Valley High School – Major: Undecided 

  • Finished second at the Joe Piane Invitational with a time of 15:35.4 
  • Zang’s finish was highest among Big Ten competitors and freshmen in the event 
  • Guided Indiana to a fifth-place team finish 
  • This marks the second time this season Zang has won Freshman and Athlete of the week in the same season. Last: Sept. 23, 2026
