ROSEMONT, Ill. – Three Big Ten women’s basketball programs accepted bids for the postseason to participate in the 48-team field of the 2024 Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin were at-large qualifiers for the 26th edition of the tournament. The addition of the trio brings the Big Ten Conference’s total to 12 teams competing across three postseason tournaments.

Minnesota is making its seventh appearance in the tournament, the last taking place in 2022. The Golden Gophers are 6-6 all-time in the event, including a run to the ‘Super 16’ in 2014. Minnesota received a first-round bye and will face the winner of Cal Poly and Pacific in the second round.

Purdue is heading into the postseason for the 32nd time in program history with its fifth showing in the WNIT. The Boilermakers last participated in the tournament in 2022 and are back in the postseason for the third consecutive year. Purdue will challenge the winner of the game between Butler and Bowling Green in the second round.

For the first time in 13 years, Wisconsin will be competing in the postseason. The Badgers last took part in the WNIT in 2011 and hold a 15-5 record in the tournament. Wisconsin will take on either Southern Indiana or UIC in the second round.

Game dates, times and locations will be released in the coming days.
