2022 Women's Basketball Tournament Ancillary Events

Sports Officials Symposium: Tuesday, March 1 (7:30 – 9 p.m. ET)
The Big Ten Conference, in partnership with the Indiana Sports Corp, will host the third annual Sports Officials Symposium, which aims to continue conversations nationally about the landscape of officiating in all sports at the grade school and the collegiate levels. Panelists will share how their organizations are addressing the recruitment, retention, and treatment of officials. This event is open to all those who currently have connections to athletics and are experiencing the shortage of officials. The event is virtual and free of charge. Middle School Curriculum Program: Wednesday, March 2 – Friday, March 4
The Middle School Curriculum program is one that pairs Indianapolis-area middle schools with Big Ten teams to promote Big Ten Women’s Basketball. Classrooms across Indianapolis will follow their respective Big Ten teams throughout the season, incorporating the team into their curriculum and corresponding with the students and coaches at these institutions via e-mails and letters. The middle school students will also be invited to attend games on Wednesday through Friday at the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
Inspiring Sports Panel Series: The Call to Lead through Madness
Thursday, March 3 (10 – 11:30 a.m. ET)
Marking the fourth year of this unique event, Indiana Sports Corp will host a panel discussion featuring a group of inspiring female leaders coming together to share their professional journey, successes and challenges faced. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with various female-focused organizations and receive information on how they can continue to be a part of the conversation even after the event is over. Big Ten Junior Journalism Program: Saturday, March 5 (1 - 3 p.m. ET)
The Big Ten Conference and Indiana Sports Corp have selected 14 students to participate in the Big Ten Junior Journalism Program and Workshop to see what it’s like to be a sports journalist. Students will be paired with one Big Ten school and be tasked with writing an article featuring the assigned University’s women’s basketball team. Each student will also be hosted at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 5, to attend a panel with professional media members and receive tickets to attend Saturday's semifinal games.
 
The Big Ten Thinks Pink – Breast Cancer Awareness: Saturday, March 5
The Big Ten Conference will hold collections, as well as donate a portion of every ticket purchased for Saturday's Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament semifinal session, to the Pink Ribbon Connection in support of providing free supplies and services for breast cancer patients in Indiana. The Big Ten Conference will also recognize breast cancer survivors, patients, doctors, nurses and caregivers. In addition, spectators attending Saturday's semifinals are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

Girls Basketball Clinic: Sunday, March 6 (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. ET)
The Big Ten Conference and Indiana Sports Corp will host a free girls’ basketball clinic on Championship Sunday for 75 students in grades 4-8. The clinic will take place on both the practice court and main court at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and participants will receive a clinic t-shirt, a ticket to Sunday’s Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament championship game, and a coupon for a free snack and drink at the concession stand. 

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Recognition: Sunday March 6
Along with Frontline Heroes Night, the Big Ten Conference will invite local members of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and their guests to attend Sunday's Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament championship game. At halftime, the group will be recognized and honored on court for their service and sacrifice.
