UCLA Sweeps Big Ten Weekly Women’s Gymnastics Honors

Gymnast of the Week
Jordan Chiles, UCLA
Sr. – Houston, Texas – Prairie
• Won every event at the Best of the West Quad against Cal, Oregon State and Washington
• Scored a 39.725 for the all-around title, the highest mark by a Bruin in a season opener since 2020
• Had a 9.900 on vault, 9.925 on uneven bars, career-high tying 9.975 on balance beam and 9.925 on floor exercise
• Helped UCLA total a 49.525 on beam, which tied the school record for highest season-opening score on the apparatus
• Garners her seventh career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week recognition

Event Specialist of the Week
Ciena Alipio, UCLA
Sr. – San Jose, Calif. – Laurel Springs
• Earned a third-place finish on balance beam with a 9.925
• Collects the first Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week honor of her career

Freshman of the Week
Tiana Sumanasekera, UCLA
Pleasanton, Calif. – Laurel Springs
• Placed second on balance beam (9.950) and floor exercise (9.850) in her collegiate debut as UCLA posted a 196.975 to top Cal, Oregon State and Washington
• Her tally on beam was the highest by a Bruin freshman in their collegiate debut in over 20 years
• Added a 9.800 on vault
• Earns her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week laurel
