Iowa, Oregon and Washington Score Weekly Women’s Indoor Track and Field Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb 12-19, 2025.  

Track Athlete of the Week  
Silan Ayyildiz, Oregon 
Junior – Distance – Istanbul, Turkiye – Major: Pre-Business Administration 

• Broke the collegiate record in the mile with her time of 4:23.46
• First-ever collegian to dip below 4:24 in the indoor mile
• Named USTFCCCA Women’s Co-National Athlete of the Week
• Registered her second Oregon school record of the season (3,000m – 8:46.33)
• Ayyildiz’s second Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Last: Dec. 11, 2024 

Field Athlete of the Week 
Amanda Moll, Washignton 
Sophomore – Pole Vault – Olympia, WA – Major: Business Administration 

• Broke the NCAA Record in pole vault three separate times at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational
• Became the first collegiate woman in history to clear 16-feet in the pole vault Moll tallied marks of 4.88m (16-0), 4.86m (15-9 ¼), 4.75m (15-7 ¼)
• Named USTFCCCA co-National Women’s Athlete of the Week
• This marks Moll’s and Washington’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week  

Freshman of the Week 
Damaris Mutunga, Iowa 
Freshman – Sprints – Machakos, Kenya – Major: Sport and Recreation Management 

• Set a PR in the 400-meter with a time of 52.14 to finish third amongst collegiate competitors in the Tyson Invite
• Mutunga is the fastest freshman in the country and Big Ten in the women’s 400 meters
• Her time of 52.14 also ranks third all-time at Iowa Mutunga also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished in fifth place
• Last Iowa Indoor Freshman of the Week: Chioma Nwachukwu (Feb. 12, 2025)
