Michigan, Minnesota and Purdue and Earn Weekly Women’s Indoor Track and Field Accolades

Fighting Illini’s Humphrey, Wolverine’s Russell, Gophers’ Nabwe, and Boilermakers’ Sullivan claim weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan 8-15, 2025.  

Track Athlete of the Week  

Zoe Sullivan, Purdue 

Senior – Sprints – Indianapolis, Ind. – Major: Law and Society 

  • Ran 8.08 in the 60m hurdles final to earn the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite victory 

  • Her time of 8.08 is now the second-best mark in Division I and just 0.02 behind the leader. 

  • She is the only Big Ten female athlete to run a sub-8.30 in the event so far this season 

  • Secures her second consecutive Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Last: (Dec. 18, 2024) 

Co-Field Athletes of the Week 

Tacoria Humphrey, Illinois 

Senior – Jumps – Indianapolis, Ind. – Major: Community Health 

  • Won the long jump with the program and UI Armory record 6.78m (22-3). 

  • Her mark of 6.78m is currently leads the NCAA for the 2025 season and is the second-best Indoor mark among Big Ten schools. 

  • The leading mark was also set on only her third jump of the year. 

  • Last Illinois Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Bara Sajdokova (April 3, 2024) 

Anthonett Nabwe, Minnesota 

R.S. Sophomore – Throws – Jamestown, N.D. – Major: Kinesiology 

  • Recorded a 20.89m mark in weight throw to win the Leaonard Hilton Memorial Invitational in Houston, marking the fifth-straight meet where she finished with a mark of 20 meters or further. 

  • Her weight throw mark of 20.89m is good for 10th best in the NCAA in the current season. 

  • Also set an indoor lifetime best shot put mark and fourth in school history of 17.03m to win first place in Houston. 

  • Secures her second Indoor Track Athlete of the Week this season. Last: (Dec. 11, 2024) 

Freshman of the Week 

Abigail Russell, Michigan 

Freshman – Throws – Allen Park High School – Major: Movement Science 

  • Finished second in the weight throw at the Wolverine Invitational with a mark of 18.63, the No.7 mark in program history and No. 18 mark in the Big Ten. 

  • She also finished third in shot put with a mark of 14.35m. 

  • Marks Russell and the Wolverine’s first Women’s Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week.
