Ohio State and Wisconsin Share Weekly Wrestling Honors

Wrestler of the Week
Zan Fugitt, Wisconsin
133 pounds – So. – Nixa, Mo. – Nixa

 

·       Competed in his first two conference bouts of the season, including one against No. 4 Iowa

·       Upset No. 4 Drake Ayala by toughing out a close 6-5 decision

·       Followed that up in Wisconsin's next match against Maryland by taking down Abram Cline in a 19-4 tech fall

·       Last Wisconsin Wrestler of the Week: Dean Hamiti (Feb. 21, 2024)

 

 

Freshman of the Week
e'Than Birden, Ohio State
165 pounds – Fr. – Dublin, Ohio – Dublin Coffman

 

·       Earned his first home win as a Buckeye with an upset of No. 20 Tyler Lillard of Indiana in No. 2 Ohio State's 45-0 win over the No. 23 Hoosiers in Columbus

·       Scored first with an escape in the second and then was awarded a stalling point to win by decision 2-1 at 165

·       The win comes after Birden won the Midlands Championship at 165 with a 5-0 record in Evanston
