Minnesota and Wisconsin Claim Weekly Wrestling Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its wrestling weekly awards for competition taking place January 28 – February 4, 2026.

Wrestler of the Week
Joseph Zargo, Wisconsin

149 pounds – Sr. – South River, N.J. – Bergen Catholic

·       Picked up a pair of ranked wins on the weekend

·       Upset No. 4 Ethan Stiles in Wisconsin's dual against No. 2 Ohio State, winning in sudden victory, 7-4

·       Closed out the weekend at Purdue, taking down No. 31 Gavin Brown in a 10-8 decision, in UW's 30-12 road win over Boilermakers

·       Last Wisconsin Wrestler of the Week honoree: Zan Fugitt (Jan. 15, 2026)

Freshman of the Week
Charlie Millard, Minnesota

157 pounds – Mequon, Wis. – Homestead

·      Helped No. 7 Minnesota to a 21-16 win at No. 4 Iowa, snapping an 11-match losing streak in the series, the team's longest active streak against another school, and marked the Golden Gophers' first win over the Hawkeyes since a 2014 win in Iowa City

·      Facing No. 12 Jordan Williams, the 21st-ranked Millard was the aggressor in the match, jumping out to a 4-2 lead through one period

·      Leading 5-3 with 1:10 to go, Millard sealed the highest ranked bonus-point win of his career with a takedown and four nearfall points, capturing a 13-3 victory
