Illinois and Michigan Claim First Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards of Fall Season

Player of the Week 
Gabriella Lindgren, Michigan 
So. – Vancouver, British Columbia – North Shore Academy 

• Won her flight at the Kitty Harrison Invitational, going 3-0 in singles action while dropping just one set across the three matches 
• Defeated Marta Leon Jaume of Kansas State, 6-1, 6-3, Martina Genis Salas of Virginia, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 and Andrea Chacon of UNC Charlotte, 6-3, 6-4 
• Last Michigan Player of the Week: Emily Sartz-Lunde (March 25, 2026) 

Freshman of the Week 
Lyla Messler, Illinois 
Largo, Fla. – Osceola Fundamental 

• Went 3-0 across opening day of her first collegiate event, advancing to the quarterfinals of her flight at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic 
• Won in straight sets against her opponents from North Carolina (6-2, 6-3) and Marquette (6-3, 6-2)  
• In doubles, teamed with Kimiko Cooper and advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective flight
