Michigan and UCLA Earn Women’s Tennis Weekly Awards

Player of the Week 
Piper Charney, Michigan 
So. – Charleston, S.C. – Lucy Beckham – Major: Business Administration  

• Helped Michigan qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship 

• Went 2-0 in singles at No. 2, the highest she has ever played in the singles lineup 

• Went 1-1 at No. 1 doubles, highlighted by a 6-2 win over No. 9 Amelia Honer/Marie Weissheim (USCB) 

• In singles action, Charney defeated Julia Werdiger (Yale), 6-1, 6-3 and Marie Weissheim (UCSB), 6-1, 6-3

Freshman of the Week 
Kate Fakih, UCLA 
Pasadena, Calif. – Connections Academy – Major: Undeclared  

• Clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Washington’s McKenna Koenig on court four to send Bruins to first ITA National Team Indoor Championship since 2021 

• Teamed with Olivia Center to beat No. 115 Sophie Luescher/Erika Matsuda 6-3 at No. 2 singles to secure the doubles point  

• Earns her third Big Ten weekly honor and first freshman of the week accolade
