INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Five Big Ten Conference schools earned berths into the 2024 NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament, it was announced Monday evening. It’s the most programs the conference has sent to the NCAA Tournament since 2019, when five schools also qualified.

Michigan (26-3) captured the Big Ten’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning its third consecutive Big Ten Tournament title Sunday afternoon. The Wolverines are the No. 3 national seed for this year’s NCAA Tournament, the highest seed ever for Michigan and the third top five seed in program history (No. 4 – 2010, No. 5 – 2023). Michigan will be making its 22nd consecutive postseason appearance and 25th overall. The Wolverines enter this year’s tournament on an 18-match win streak. For the second-straight year and 10th time overall, the Wolverines will play host to first- and second-round matches at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wolverines will take on Chicago State on Saturday. Notre Dame and Xavier are also in the Michigan regional.

Ohio State (19-7) received the No. 12 national seed for the NCAA Tournament following an appearance in the Big Ten Tournament championship match. The Buckeyes will be making their 20th NCAA Tournament appearance and 10th in a row. Ohio State likewise will play host to first- and second-round matches this weekend at the Auer Tennis Complex in Columbus, Ohio. This will be the seventh time and fourth consecutive year the Buckeyes have started NCAA Tournament play at home. Ohio State will take on Toledo on Saturday, with Vanderbilt and Wake Forest also in the Columbus regional.

Northwestern (19-7) punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the 24th time in 25 seasons under head coach Claire Pollard. The Wildcats will head to Pepperdine to take on Arizona State in the opening round after posting 19 wins throughout the regular season, the most since 2021. SIUE rounds out the Pepperdine regional.

Wisconsin (18-6) is back in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in five seasons and the 10th time overall. The Badgers finished fourth in the Big Ten this season and reached the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Wisconsin will play William & Mary in an NCAA first-round match, with host North Carolina (4th national seed) and Navy meeting in the other first-round contest.

Illinois has made the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons for the second time under head coach Evan Clark’s direction and seventh time in program history. Illinois will begin this year’s NCAA Tournament in Austin, Texas with a first-round match against Georgia Tech on Saturday. With a win, the Fighting Illini would move into a second-round match against either host (and ninth-seeded) Texas or Harvard on Sunday.
