Badgers’ Sholokhova earns women’s tennis weekly award

Maria Sholokhova, Wisconsin

Won the ITA All-American Singles Championship, becoming the first Badger to win an ITA All-American Championship
Ranked No. 44 in the ITA Poll, Sholokhova made history as the first man or woman from Wisconsin to win the tournament. She is the program's fourth singles All-American and the first since Barbara Urbanska in 1998
Going on a 6-0 run, Sholokhova took down two top-10 ranked players, No. 1 Mary Stoaina (6-4, 6-3) and No. 6 Savannah Broadus (7-6, 6-1). She defeated Elza Tomase (6-3, 6-3) to earn the title of 2024 ITA All-American Champion
With the win, Sholokhova will be an automatic qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Individual Championships, which will take place in Waco, Texas on Nov. 19-24
