ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference has announced the 2024 Women’s Tennis All-Conference teams and individual award recipients on Wednesday. This year’s honorees were selected through a vote by the Big Ten’s 14 head coaches.

Michigan senior Kari Miller was the unanimous selection for the Big Ten Player of the Year award, joined by Wolverines’ head coach Ronni Bernstein who was named Coach of the Year. Ohio State’s Luciana Perry was named Freshman of the Year.

This marks the second time that Miller has been named Player of the Year, also earning the honor in 2022. Miller is ranked third in singles in the latest ITA rankings with a 13-4 dual record at No. 1 singles. Miller also posted a 4-2 doubles record on court one and was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Jan. 17.

Perry posted a 7-1 Big Ten singles record in her first year with the Buckeyes. Perry also finished the conference slate with a 5-2 conference doubles record on court one and a 2-0 record on court two.

Bernstein earns Big Ten Coach of the Year for the third straight season and for the ninth time in her 17 seasons at Michigan. This year,

Bernstein has led the Wolverines to a 23-3 record, including a perfect 11-0 conference mark and the program’s 12th Big Ten title, (11th under Bernstein’s guidance). Ranked No. 2 nationally according to the ITA, Michigan is the top seed for this week’s Big Ten Tournament.

Along with the all-conference women’s tennis and individual awards, the Big Ten also recognized 14 Sportsmanship Award honorees. These student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. They must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

The 2024 Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament opens Wednesday and continues through Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Michigan. Every match of this year’s Big Ten Tournament will be streamed live on B1G+, with further details available at bigtenplus.com.
