ROSEMONT, Ill. (June 14, 2023) – The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday a full breakdown of its 140 volleyball conference matches for all 14 member institutions for the 2023 season.

Each school will play a 20-match conference schedule, facing seven schools both home and away and playing the six remaining schools once. Of the single-play opponents, schools will play three at home and three on the road.

The Big Ten Conference season begins Wednesday, Sept. 20, with a trio of matches as Illinois travels to Indiana, Minnesota visits Iowa and Rutgers ventures to Penn State. The remaining eight member institutions will open their conference schedules on Friday, Sept. 22. Matches will be played primarily on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with teams competing twice in Big Ten play each week.

The Big Ten champion will receive the conference’s automatic qualifier to the 2023 NCAA Tournament that will be played Nov. 30-Dec. 16, culminating with the national semifinals and championship match on Dec. 14 & 16 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The Big Ten had six schools earn berths into last year’s NCAA Tournament and led the nation with five schools receiving top-16 seeds. At least one Big Ten program has advanced to the NCAA national semifinals in 15 of the past 16 seasons, reaching the title match 12 times and winning nine national championships since 2007.
