Northwestern and Rutgers Receive Field Hockey Awards
ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive, Defensive and Freshman of the Week Award recipients for matches played Sept. 18-24.
Offensive Player of the Week
Guillermina Causarano, Rutgers
Jr. – M – Salta, Argentina – Colegio San Pablo
- Netted three unassisted goals in Rutgers’ 4-2 road victory against 18th-ranked UMass on September 24
- Broke a 1-1 tie with first-half goals scored seven minutes apart, then added a third tally early in the fourth quarter
- Her performance helped No. 7 Rutgers improve to 9-0 while matching a program record for road wins in a season (8)
- The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar earns her first Big Ten Offensive award

Defensive Player of the Week
Maja Zivojnovic, Northwestern
So. – B – Rotterdam, Netherlands – Erasmiaans Gymnasium
- Became the first Northwestern player to record a hat trick this season in the Wildcats’ 4-0 win over Princeton at Lakeside Field
- Scored all three goals off penalty corners and made a defensive save as No. 3 Northwestern notched its sixth shutout of the year
- The center back ranks second on the team with seven goals
- Receives the first Big Ten weekly award of her career

Freshman of the Week
Olivia Bent-Cole, Northwestern
Fr. – F/M – Philadelphia, Pa. – Camden Catholic
- Scored two goals (including the game winner) in Northwestern’s 4-3 win over No. 12 Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 22
- Found the back of the cage twice in a span of 7 minutes, 22 seconds in the fourth quarter
- Finished with seven shots on goal on the weekend for a Northwestern squad that extended its win streak to nine matches
- Honored for the first time with the Big Ten Freshman award
