Iowa and Northwestern Take Home Field Hockey Honors
Hawkeyes’ van Aalsum and Zonnenberg, Wildcats’ Boon recognized

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive, Defensive and Freshman of the Week Award winners for the week of Sept. 4-7.
Offensive Player of the Week
Dionne van Aalsum, Iowa
Jr. – MF – Castricum, Netherlands – Bonhoeffer College
- Amassed eight goals and 16 points to lead 15th-ranked Iowa to wins over Kent State and Queens (N.C.)
- Produced back-to-back four-goal performances at Grant Field
- Took 22 shots on the weekend, placing 14 on goal, while notching her 11th goal of the season
- The 2024 All-Big Ten selection earned her fifth career Big Ten Offensive award

Defensive Player of the Week
Juliana Boon, Northwestern
R-Fr. – G – Houston, Texas – St. John’s School
- Helped top-ranked Northwestern to wins over No. 5 Duke (Sept. 5) and No. 8 Boston College (Sept. 7) at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Durham, N.C.
- A first-year starter, extended her shutout streak to 240 minutes
- Made nine saves on the weekend, solidifying a Wildcat defense that has yet to allow a goal in four games
- Boon’s performances propelled Northwestern to its eighth-straight win the in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge series

Freshman of the Week
Felicia Zonnenberg, Iowa
Fr. – MF – Maarn, Netherlands – Schaerweijde U18-1
- Led Big Ten freshmen with seven points, producing a goal and five assists
- Turned in three assists in Sunday’s 8-1 win over Queens
- Started both games on the weekend as Iowa outscored its opponents, 12-2
- The rookie midfielder leads Iowa with five assists and stands second in team scoring with nine points
