Iowa and Northwestern Secure Field Hockey Honors

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week Award winners for matches played Oct. 26-29.

Offensive Player of the Week

Dionne van Aalsum, Iowa

Fr. – M – Castricum, Netherlands – Bonhoeffer College

• Recorded two goals and an assist in Iowa’s 7-2 win over No. 3 Rutgers on Oct. 27

• The seven goals were the most Iowa has ever scored against a ranked opponent

• Notched her NCAA-leading 27th goal, tying the Iowa freshman record

• Earns fourth Offensive Player honor and eighth Big Ten weekly award overall (four Freshman of the Week)

• Last Iowa Offensive Player of the Week: Dionne van Aalsum (Oct. 16, 2023)

Defensive Player of the Week

Annabel Skubisz, Northwestern

Gr. – GK – Houston, Texas — The Kinkaid School

• Made seven saves and held No. 7 Maryland to a goal in Northwestern’s 5-1 win on Oct. 26 in Evanston, Ill.

• The win helped top-ranked Northwestern clinch the Big Ten Championship outright

• Leads the NCAA with a 0.52 goals-against average and .859 save percentage

• Receives sixth career Big Ten Defensive award and fourth of the season
