Iowa, Northwestern and Rutgers Claim Weekly Field Hockey Awards

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Offensive, co-Defensive and Freshman of the Week Award recipients for matches played Sept. 5-10.
Offensive Player of the Week
Dionne van Aalsum, Iowa
Fr. – M – Castricum, Netherlands – Bonhoeffer College
Scored eight goals total in Iowa’s wins versus Central Michigan (Sept. 8) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 10) in Iowa City, Iowa
Became first Hawkeye to record a hat trick since 2019 and the first to net four goals in a game since 2016
Paces the nation with 16 goals in six games, averaging 2.67 goals per contest.
Earns first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolade

Sr. – GK – Houston, Texas – The Kinkaid School
Led No. 3 Northwestern to three shutouts wins on the road, including a 3-0 decision over No. 20 Massachusetts (Sept. 9)
Did not allow a goal in 180 minutes of action, making eight saves and turning away 10 corner attempts
Extended shutout streak to 230 minutes while improving on an NCAA-best 0.49 goals-against average
Collects her fourth Big Ten weekly award and second-straight this season

Center back scored a pair of game-winning goals in helping No. 12 Rutgers (6-0) to road wins against Villanova (Sept. 8) and No. 15 Princeton (Sept. 10)
Recorded a hat trick and defensive save at Villanova and scored the game-winning goal in double overtime at Princeton, helping limit the Tigers to one shot on goal
The Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year receives her first Big Ten Defensive Player award
