ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week Award winners for matches played Oct. 10-15.
Offensive Player of the Week
Dionne van Aalsum, Iowa
Fr. – M – Castricum, Netherlands – Bonhoeffer College
Scored both of Iowa’s goals in a 2-1 win at No. 5 Louisville on Oct. 15 as the Hawkeyes became the first Big Ten team to defeat the Cardinals this season
Took nine shots against Indiana to finish with 15 total (including 10 on goal) for the weekend
Leads the NCAA with 23 goals, seven more than her nearest competitors
Earns third Offensive Player honor and sixth award overall (three Freshman of the Week)

Defensive Player of the Week
Puck Winter, Rutgers
So. – B – Deventer, Netherlands – Centre for Sports and Education
Played all 140 minutes on defense to help Rutgers to a pair of road wins, including a 1-0 penalty shootout decision over No. 9 Ohio State on Oct. 13
Part of a defensive corps that held the NCAA’s top-scoring team (OSU) scoreless while allowing only one goal (on a penalty stroke) in a 3-1 win over Michigan State
Made defensive saves in both contests to raise her season total to eight, second-best in the nation
Receives the second Defensive Player award of the season and her career

Freshman of the Week
Alyssa Klebasko, Maryland
Fr. – GK – Odenton, Md. – Garrison Forest
Backstopped Maryland to wins over No. 16 Michigan (1-0) and No. 9 Ohio State (2-1)
Made eight saves for the shutout against the Wolverines and followed with six stops versus the Buckeyes to finish with a .933 save percentage on the weekend
Improved to 8-0 as a starter, which includes five wins against ranked opponents
Garners first Big Ten weekly freshman award
