Northwestern Advances to NCAA Field Hockey Semifinals
Wildcats to represent the Big Ten in Ann Arbor this weekend
ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern has reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships for the fourth consecutive season.
Ranked second nationally, Northwestern (21-1) will meet 14th-ranked Massachusetts (17-5) of the Atlantic 10 on Friday at 3 p.m. ET at Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor, Mich. Friday’s first semifinal features third-ranked Saint Joseph’s (19-3) versus top-ranked North Carolina (20-0) at 12 p.m. ET. ESPN+ will carry both games.
Massachusetts and Northwestern will be meeting for the second time this season. The Wildcats defeated the Minutewomen, 6-1, on Sept. 1 in Evanston, Ill.
Northwestern earned a trip to the NCAA semifinals with a 3-2 overtime win against eighth-ranked Virginia in a NCAA Second Round match Sunday at Lakeside Field. Lauren Wadas scored 2:20 into overtime, marking the second-straight year she has scored the game-winner in the regional final.
Coach Tracey Fuchs’ squad is seeking its fourth-straight trip to the championship game, having previously winning a national title in 2021 in Ann Arbor.
