Maryland, Northwestern and Penn State Receive Field Hockey Honors

ROSEMONT, lll. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Field Hockey Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week Award winners for matches played Oct. 20-22.

Offensive Player of the Week

Sophia Gladieux, Penn State

Sr. – F – Boyertown, Pa. – Oley Valley

Scored both goals in Penn State’s 2-1 come-from-behind win over No. 5 Iowa on Sunday
Finished with 11 total shots (including seven on goal) on the weekend
Leads the Big Ten with seven goals and 15 points in conference play
The 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year receives her fifth career offensive weekly award

Defensive Player of the Week

Annabel Skubisz, Northwestern

Recorded her sixth-straight shutout with eight saves against No. 16 Penn State on Oct. 20
Extended shutout streak to 366:37 at Rutgers before allowing first goal since Sept. 22
Turned away three shootout attempts in a 2-1 win over Rutgers on Sunday as Northwestern claimed a share of the Big Ten Championship
Earns fifth career defensive award and third of the season
