Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State and Rutgers Win Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Awards
Terps' Johnson, Wolverines’ Rodriguez, Buckeyes’ Oldman, and Scarlet Knights’ Groff garner weekly honors
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Lacrosse Awards for
the week of Feb 3rd - Feb. 10th, 2026.
Offensive Players of the Week
Leo Johnson, Maryland
Grad – Attack – Greenwich, Conn. – Major: Management Studies
- Recorded five goals on five shots along with one assist in the Terps’ 19-10 win over Loyola
- Ignited an offense that produced its highest single-game total since 2022
- Terps also secured their 33rd consecutive season-opening victory
- Last Maryland Offensive Player of the Week Award: Eric Spanos (March 4, 2025)
Defensive Player of the Week
Dylan Groff, Rutgers
Junior – Defense – Evanston, Ill. – Major: Finance
- In his second career start, recorded one ground ball and one caused turnover
- Limited reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Hill Plunkett to two goals on 11 shots and three turnovers
- Last Rutgers Defensive Player of the Week Award: Ryan Splaine (April 8, 2025)
Specialist of the Week
Jack Oldman, Ohio State
Junior – Face off – Pickering, Ontario – Major: Mechanical Engineering
- Went 18-for-23 on the faceoff for the Buckeyes in the 17-7 win over Cleveland State Saturday
- Picked up a season-high 13 ground balls and is ranked first in the country with 11.00 ground balls per game
- Improved to second in the country with a .811 win percentage on the year
- Scored his first goal of the season and fifth of his career against the Vikings
Last Ohio State Specialist of the Week Award: Caleb Fyock (April 1, 2025)
Freshman of the Week
Tay Rodriguez, Michigan
Freshman – Face Off – Wheaton, Ill. – Major: School of Literature, science and art
- In his second career outing, won 10 of 16 faceoffs (.625)
- Added his first point with an assist
- Also picked up six ground balls
- Last Michigan Freshman of the Week Award: Luke Shannehan (Feb. 3, 2026)
