Johns Hopkins and Penn State Collect Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Honors
Blue Jays’ Hobot and Nittany Lions’ Aquino, Hawkins, and Ross win weekly awards
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Lacrosse Awards for
the week of Feb 10th - Feb. 17th, 2026.
Offensive Players of the Week
Hunter Aquino, Penn State
Sophomore – Attack – Easton, Penn. – Major: Division of Undergraduate Studies
- Led the scoring for the Nittany Lions against No. 3 Princeton with a hat trick
- Was effective in the ride as well, causing a pair of turnovers and scooping four groundballs
- Both the caused turnovers and groundball numbers each marked new career highs for the sophomore
- Last Penn State Offensive Player of the Week Award: Matt Traynor (April 15, 2025)
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Ross, Penn State
Senior – Defense – Davidsonville, Md. – Major: Business
- In a win over No. 3 Princeton, Ross recorded three groundballs and three caused turnovers
- The Tigers’ core scored just seven goals, the fewest scores by the Ivy League regular season title favorite since February 28. 2024
- Last Penn State Defensive Player of the Week Award: Alex Ross (March 11, 2025)
Specialist of the Week
Joe Hobot, Johns Hopkins
Sophomore – Face off – Nesconset, N.Y. – Major: Economics
- In two wins against Towson and Loyola, he was 26-45 (.578) on the faceoff
- Recorded a goal and an assist in the win over Towson
- Also tallied 11 total ground balls between the two wins
- Last Johns Hopkins Specialist of the Week Award: Logan Callahan (March 18, 2025)
Freshman of the Week
Preston Hawkins, Penn State
Freshman – Goalie – Powell, Ohio – Major: Division of Undergraduate Studies
- Put up a career-high 11 saves against a top-three ranked Princeton team
- Had a 61.1% save percentage
- Also recorded three ground balls
