Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Penn State and Rutgers Win Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Honors

Blue Jays’ Gelinas, Terps’ Spanos, Nittany Lions’ Iannantuono, and Scarlet Knights’ Splaine collect weekly awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Lacrosse Awards for 
the week of March 24th - 31st, 2026.  

Offensive Players of the Week 
Eric Spanos, Maryland 
Graduate Student – Attack – Pottstown, Penn. – Major: Management Studies 

  • Powered the Terps to a 14-8 win over Michigan, scoring a career-high eight goals 
  • Accounted for all four of the Terps’ second-quarter goals 
  • Most goals by a Maryland player since Jared Bernhardt scored eight against Michigan in 2021 
  • Last Maryland Offensive Player of the Week Award: Leo Johnson (Feb. 10, 2026) 

Defensive Player of the Week 
Ryan Splaine, Rutgers 
Senior – LSM – Rockville, Md. – Major: Communication 

  • In a double-overtime win over No. 11 Johns Hopkins, held All-American Matt Collison to zero goals 
  • Was a part of a defensive unit that allowed just eight total goals 
  • Seventh time in 10 games that RU held an opponent to single digits 
  • Last Rutgers Defensive Player of the Week award: Joe Juengerkes (Feb. 24, 2026)  

Specialist of the Week 
Oran Gelinas, Johns Hopkins 
Senior – Goalie – Waltham, Mass. –Major: Psychology 

  • Posted 19 saves, the second-highest total of his career 
  • Seven of his 19 saves were in the fouth quarter and four in overtime 
  • His 19 saves are the most by a Big Ten goalie in a game this season 
  • Marks Gelinas' second Specialist of the Week award this season. Last: March 3, 2026  

Freshman of the Week 
Jack Iannantuono, Penn State 
Freshman – Attack – Phoenix, Md. – Major: Division of Undergraduate Studies 

  • In a 13-6 win over No. 8 Ohio State, led the Penn State attack with two goals and two assists 
  • His four points against matched the second-most points surrendered by the Buckeyes to an opposing player this season 
  • Both of Iannantuono’s goals were unassisted and helped build an 8-3 lead heading into half 
  • Marks Iannantuono's second Freshman of the Week award this season. Last: March 3, 2026
