Maryland, Michigan and Ohio State Win Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Awards

Terps’ Laake, Wolverines’ Roode and Shannehan, and Buckeyes' Fyock earn honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Lacrosse Awards for the week of April 7-14, 2026 

Offensive Players of the Week 
Nick Roode, Michigan 
Junior – Attack – Peterborough, Ontario – Major: Sport Management 

  • Recorded four goals in the win over No. 8 Penn State 
  • Three of his four goals were in the fourth quarter to ignite the comeback 
  • Netted the game-tying goal with 1:43 left in the contest 
  • Has a conference-best 32 goals this season 
  • Last Michigan Offensive Player of the Week Award: Michael Boehm (Feb. 20, 2024) 

Defensive Player of the Week 
Peter Laake, Maryland 
Sophomore – Defense – Glenwood, Md.– Major: Business Management 

  • Anchored the Maryland defense in a dominant 12-2 win over No. 19 Rutgers 
  • Caused two turnovers and recorded two ground balls 
  • Held Big Ten-leading scorer Colin Kurdyla scoreless 
  • The two goals allowed marked the fewest ever surrendered by the Terps in a Big Ten match 
  • Laake’s second Defensive Player of the Week award this season. Last: March 17, 2026 
     

Specialist of the Week 
Caleb Fyock, Ohio State 
Junior – Goalie – Bowie, Md. – Major: Sport Industry 

  • Made a season high-tying 14 saves in the Buckeyes’ top 10 win over Johns Hopkins 
  • His final save of the game came with 10 seconds on the clock to secure the 7-6 win 
  • Helped hold the Blue Jays to their lowest scoring game of the season 
  • The home win was the first over Johns Hopkins since 2022 
  • Last Ohio State Specialist of the Week award: Jack Allen (March 24, 2026)  

Freshman of the Week 
Luke Shannehan, Michigan 
Freshman – Attack – Fairfield, Conn. – Major: School of Literature, Science and Art 

  • Scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds on the clock at No. 8 Penn State 
  • Assisted on Michigan’s first goal of the game and added two ground balls 
  • Currently tied for fourth in the Big Ten with 23 goals 
  • Ties for fifth in the conference with 37 points as a freshman 
  • Second Freshman of the Week award for Shannehan. Last: Feb. 3, 2026
